LMT Continuing Education

We have scheduled four excellent options for your Louisiana Continuing Education requirements for Fall of 2010.

 

Note: All classees provided by Faith Pease, RN, LMT, NCTMB, ACMT, Provider No. LAP0108.  Each class has been approved by the LA State Board of Massage Therapy for  12 CEU credits each.  Faith is a NCBTMB Approved Provider, No. 450074-06.

Healing Stone Therapy

Focus: The safe, legal and appropriate use of warm stone therapy.


Objectives: The student will learn through lecture, demonstration, and hands-on practice stone preparation, infection control, safe and proper stone massage procedures, contraindications to stone massage, benefits of stone massage, especially for the medical client, and sources for stones and supplies.


CE Hours: Approved by NCBTMB and the Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy for a maximum of 12 hours CEUs.


Need to bring: Table, linens, oils

Class hours: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, September 13-14, 2010.

Medical Massage Basics I

Focus: Working within Scope of Practice for the benefit of the medical client while fulfilling laws and regulations of the State of Louisiana.

Objectives: The student will be able to verbalize and demonstrate understanding of introduction to insurance billing, appropriate and accurate charting, client, physician and hospital protocols for working with medical clients with care and safety.

CE Hours: Approved by NCBTMB and the Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy for a maximum of 12 hours CEUs.

Class hours: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, October 11-12, 2010.

Medical Massage Basics II

Focus:  Fulfilling laws and regulations relating to medically-compromised clients while working within the Scope of Practice.

Objectives:  The student will learn through lecture, demonstration, and hands-on practice the latest research on massage benefits and risks for patients with cancer, fibromyalgia, pain and other medical conditions, endangerment areas, contraindications and safe, appropriate massage techniques for these clients.


CE Hours:  Approved by NCBTMB and the Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy for a maximum of 12 hours CEUs.

Ethics for Massage Therapists

Focus:  This class meets the requirements of NCBTMB Standard 5, Roles and Boundaries, and is an update of Louisiana Title 46, Professional and Occupational Standards for Massage Therapists.

Objectives:  The student will be able to verbalize and demonstrate understanding of NCBTMB Standards of Practice, and Louisiana Title 46 regarding the profession of massage therapy in Louisiana, with special emphasis on ethics and professionalism, especially relating to medically-compromised clients.

CE Hours:  Approved by NCBTMB and the Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy for 12 hours CEUs.
